Bangkok Air is the only airlines to Samui from Bangkok, It cost me $225 round trip in January. The only other option is to get a flight on one of the discount carriers to Surat Thani, then bus to the Samui Ferry Pier then Ferry to Samui, it’s time consuming but will cost less. Last option is take a bus from the Ferry to Bangkok that would cost about $25.
It’s only Bangkok Airways at the moment, they also own and run the airport there. But I think that there is a deal on the way to allow Thai International to fly into Samui.
Bangkok Airways does own the only airport on the island, and operates a monopoly on flights to Koh Samui. They usually offer last minute discounts when they know flights will not be full, although it can be a gamble if you have hotel reservations. Air Asia and 12Go airlines among others offer much cheaper flights to Surat Thani, you can take a ferry to Koh Samui from there.
only Bangkok airlines flies to Samui. Sometimes the fare is more costly than flying to Hong Kong from Bangkok. I suggest the train if you are on a budget, or possibly the bus. The train and the bus go to Surat Thani, then you will have to take a ferry to the island.
You could also drive there. My friends and I drove there not to long ago, and it was a good 8 hour trip. We got to relax on the ferry, and it was nice to be by the ocean after being in Bangkok so long. There is also a massage place on the ferry, that was great after our long journey. nhave fun
